About Boring HR

Who it's for
Boring HR is built for the small business owner who is also the HR department. You run a restaurant, a dental practice, a construction crew, a childcare center, or a small professional team. You don't have an HR person. You don't need an enterprise HRIS. You just need the basics handled without spreadsheets and email chains.
The problem we solve
Small businesses track PTO in spreadsheets, attendance in email threads, emergency contacts in a shared Google Doc, and certifications in a folder someone might remember to check. It works — until it doesn't. An expired food handler cert shuts down a kitchen. A missed PTO request creates a scheduling conflict. A new hire's emergency contact form is somewhere in last year's inbox.
These aren't hard problems. They're boring problems. But boring problems left unmanaged become expensive ones.
What we're building
Two tools, each $9/month flat rate, no per-employee pricing:
- Team Tracker — PTO requests and approvals, leave balance tracking, employee directory, and a simple policy engine for accrual rules and blackout dates.
- Cert Tracker — Certification and license tracking with automatic expiry alerts at 90, 60, 30, and 7 days. Filter and export for audits.
While those tools are in development, we offer free HR resources — templates, guides, and how-tos covering PTO, hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, compliance, and more. Plus free tools like our PTO calculator, offer letter generator, and job description generator.
Our pricing philosophy
Flat rate. No per-employee fees. Whether you have 2 employees or 15, you pay the same. We don't think you should get a bigger bill every time you hire someone.
